HALL OF POETS POETRY OF THE WEEK

HALL OF POETS POETRY OF THE WEEK goes to "Spare a moment for death.", written by Krishna Mohan.

my hand bowl
is empty;
alms I begged
for have been
rejected
by my good
friend, Death;

how frail
and famished
she is;
over worked to
death
by the diligent
extermination
carried out
by the human machine;

their sins,
the givers
have so graciously
donated into
my bowl,
are abhorred
by Death,
for she takes
pride in her
sincerity,
dedication, and
commitment
to carry out her
duties diligently;

she sleeps
restlessly as her
being is haunted
by those souls
whom she has
not yet carried
yonder to
the next phase
of the moon;
carrying across
a bridge of silver
beams unseen
is no easy task
even to Death;

I seek to comfort
her in her
dreadful sleep;
I clean the blood
off of her being;
I see body wrecked
by curses
hurled by
the ignorant accursed;
this is a daily
ritual;
in a moment she coughs
up a river of blood
red, maroon, yellow
and green;
the human machine
does not rest;
every life
felled ahead of its'
time tears up
my friend Death
and opens a rivulet
of agony;

I hear her murmur
in her visceral
nightmares;
hushed, she is
petrified by
the onslaught of
human machine;
does she have
any limits? or
are her limits
the limits
explored by
the killing machine?

Now as she begins
to wake up
I rest to begin
my creation
of life;
